Katima Mulilo Town Council is thrilled to announce the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Dr Sam Nujoma Drive and Mafuta Road. Construction is set to begin tomorrow, July 17,2024.
Today, the Mayor, along with other Councilors and our technical team, visited the site with the contractor.

Katima Mulilo Town Council conducts Water Meter Audit, as part of our ongoing effort to promote water conservation and accurate billing, the Katima Mulilo Town Council has commenced a comprehensive water meter audit across our town.
Our team began field work on Friday 3,2024.They are diligently inspecting water meter to assess their functionality and ensure the integrity of our essential water infrastructure.

Exciting progress in Katima Mulilo, we are thrilled to announce that the Katima Mulilo Town has achieved an impressive 92% readiness score for the implementation of the National Housing Information System. This crucial tool, development by the government to establish a comprehensive housing database, will modernize the ability to coordinate and monitor national progress, ensuring efficient housing for our community.
The journey began with the first training session in November 2023, where Katima Mulilo Town Council was actively engaged. Following a readiness survey, we are proud to be among the select local authorities that scored the required percentage for the readiness in implementing this system.
A refresher training session took place from 8-12 April 2024 to further equip the team for success. We are honored to welcome esteemed members from the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development and Namibia Statistics Agency to guide the team through the implementation process.
As we prepare for the next phase, we are excited to announce that a practical session will commerce from 29 April 2024, where the team will engage in three days of practical training to load data onto the system and make it go live.

Productive meeting alert! Today, the Katima Mulilo Town Council had an insightful session with the Namibia Statistics Agency, who presented the preliminary census results. With a population of 46,401 in urban area, these findings will be instrumental in our strategic planning to provide quality services and improve living standards.

John Ntemwa was elected as the new Mayor on December 1, 2023, with Lascan Sikosi serving as the Deputy Mayor. The Council Management Committee includes Charles Musialike, Christina Simanga, and Namangolwa Sitali Mapenzi. The position of Chairperson of the Council Management remains vacant.
KMTC has officially opened the Lifasi road for public use, in a ceremony attended by Mayor Shamalaza and the Governor. The two-way lane road of phase one is now accessible for pedestrians and drivers, while construction on phase two is ongoing.
In collaboration with the launch of the first phase of Lifasi Street, KMTC organized the Mayoral Cup and gala dinner, where awards were presented to local government officials and business entities. Construction on the second phase of the road is ongoing, and although access will be limited, the public will still have partial access to the road during this time.
KMTC has launched free public WIFI in Katima Mulilo as part of its efforts to give back to the community. The WIFI is available at Pick n Pay shopping mall, Katima Open Market, Choto Satellite Office, and the KMTC main branch. These access points will be enhanced to cover longer distances. The initiative aims to bridge the gap in internet access for students, clients, researchers, and employees, providing unlimited opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds.
